HOLA FROM PARADISE!
Stylish Nettie trying to escape the heat by standing next to a cooling fountain ...... stopped 4 times by the Federales in Mexico!
The purpose of my trip to Mexico this time, was to assist my old friend Judy (an ex Bonanza, Trans Ocean and ONA stew) who has a house there, to bring back her cats to the US of A.
I was in Todos Santos for 6 days and then accompanied Judy and her 4 cats down the Baja Trail to San Francisco and it took us 6 days. There was spectacular scenery and wild rides through the mountains.
I left for Cabo and Todos Santos on my birthday July 21. It all started out well but then we had the end of a hurricane for 3 days in Todos and then began the preparation for the journey. Not much time to sightsee or shop or even sun bath as it was just too hot. Besides one cat Mario with irritable bowel symptom -- and poop stops along the journey -- toting sand, food, clothes, etc. etc. up and down stairs in 90 degree at night weather.
We went down the 500 Baja Trail race where the motorcycles and race cars drive each year. It is one scary road with no barriers as we drove behind Coca Cola trucks at 20 miles an hour, watching for cows crossing the road and were stopped by the Federales along the way 4 times but easy crossing the border at Tecate -- where the Tecate brewery is -- drove through beautiful vineyards and lovely scenery -- cactus all green because of the 3 days of rain. The cactus jungle out of aCatavina was fantastic. The forests of cacti are magnificent with the big boulder rocks and some of the towns were really fun to be in.
