ANGELIKA´S CAREER WITH ONAI am originally from Germany and started with ONA in 1970, and stayed until the end. I was the last one that went to the LAX base in the summer of 1970 when we started flying the Vietnam war, and we were a closely knit group out there, only three crews. I have lived in San Diego since 1974. My husband was a physicist, he passed away 7 years ago and I am now by myself. I have worked for the San Diego Chamber of Commerce for over 16 years, doing lobbying work on infrastructure and border related issues. It is a very interesting job. Through my job, I work quite a bit with many of San Diego's international organizations. In my "other" life, I am also a printmaker. I make wood cuts, lithographs, etchings, etc. and together with 6 of my artist friends, we have a show once a year, showing original prints. Greetings from Angelika! ![]() San Diego Printmakers show ![]() |
Angelika´s artThe cards are photos of one my wood cuts. I carve the image and then make different blocks for each color. Once the carvings are finished, I start printing the different colors first and then the black on top of everything. I roll printer's ink (oil based ink) over the block, then place my Japanese paper on top and use a wooden tool to transfer the ink to the paper. The trick is to keep everything well registrated. It takes a while to make a print, therefore, my editions are rather small. The original print is about 9" by 1. |
